The most dramatic event of 1995 in Rappahannock County was surely the flood of Tuesday. June 27.
Unfortunately Kirk Davis lost his life early that morning as a huge surge traveled down the Rush River in Harris Hollow.
That heavy surge of flood water scoured many areas in Harris Hollow. Along the upper Jordan.River in Beahm Hollow damage was also severe. In Harris Hollow the home of Virginia Fletcher and her family was so damaged it had to he bulldozed down. An unused church was also destroyed, and many people were cut off as the rivers ran down the roads and left fields of rubble in their paths.
The damage in Madison County was even more severe as hillsides and houses were swept away by flood
