In addition to hikes, some other future program possibilities include bird, plant and tree identification walks, biking and boating excursions, historic building site tours, organic farm tours and any other ideas members and friends might suggest and help facilitate.

Hunt Harris has been organizing camps, hikes and other environmental education activities for years. If you are interested in these hikes or in future outings, contact Hunt at 6751879. Check with him about the weather conditions before the hikes!

For the Mary’s Rock hike, participants may meet at Mountainside Market on U.S. 211 west of Sperryville from 11:30 a.m. until noon or at the Panorama parking lot off Skyline Drive and U.S. 211 no later than 12:30 p.m. For the White Oak hike, meet at Mountainside Market from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. or the lower White Oak Canyon parking area no later than 10:30 a.m. For the Old Rag hike, meet at the upper lot of. Old Rag off Route 231 and 707 in Nethers between 4 and 4:30 p.m.

In case of inclement weather, hikes ‘ may be rescheduled or canceled so check with Hunt if you are interested.

The February hike is scheduled for Saturday the 3rd from 10 a.m, to 4 p.m. to Broad Hollow and Hazel Mountain.
