School Superintendent David Gangel told the School Board Tuesday night that the budget approved late Monday by the General Assembly included an increase of $237,652 in state funds for county schools.
This will enable the board to reduce its requested increase from county taxpayers to just under $342,000, he said.
With that news the School Board decided not to make any cuts in the proposed budget to run the schools next year until after a meeting with the Board of Supervisors next Tuesday.
The board heard a presentation by Richard Funk, an architect with dBF Associates of Charlottesville on possible ways to expand the high school to handle most of the vocational education now taking place at Piedmont Technical Center.
Mr. Funk presented four options. All the proposals included building on the part of the high school property now used for/the-softball field. All included three targe Vocational education spaces, four regular classrooms and additional bathrooms.
