The picture of trash on the front page of last week’s Rappahannock News is a grim reminder of what our county will look like if the present dumpster closing order is allowed to stand. It’s sad to think that the yeoman work of these volunteers may be in vain.
It is unfortunate that the Board of Supervisors schedules its meetings at 2 p.m. on workdays. This effectively precludes the working people from having any participation in the decision-making process. Unfortunately, the March meeting in which the subject of dumpster removal was discussed took place when many of us were unable to' attend.
I understand that Jack Dwyer has requested that the April meeting be set at 7 p.m. (to be classified as an open hearing) so that any citizens who. wishes to oppose the closing of the dumpsters, can make themselves heard, or show by their physical presence, that their objections (indicated by their petition signatures) are serious.
