The first option would be a free standing addition connected to the existing plant only by a sidewalk. The second option was similar but included a covered walkway or enclosed corridor connecting to the existing building. A third plan would place classrooms along that corridor. It would not extend as far in the back. The final proposal added an additional entrance on the softball field side.

Mr. Funk said the School Board should think in terms of such construction costing $75 to $85 per square foot. Cost estimates for the project ranged from $837,300 to $980,800 depending on which option was selected.

Dr. Gangel presented information from a study of the future of vocational education in the county. According to his figures tuition at Piedmont adds $3,733 to the $5,797 per student the county is paying for education. Transportation costs for the Piedmont trip add another $659 per student. The total cost of educating a student who attends Piedmont is $10,188 per year, he said.
