Make plans to support our Amissville Ruritan’s yard sale to be held Saturday, Sept. 27 at Stuart Field. Tentatively planned from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the proceeds will be used to offset the cost of completing the inside of the Ruritan building. After it is finished, the building will be available to the community for various functions.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the Ruritans, contact Fred Naramore at 937-5367 or Butch Zindel at 937-5703. Membership is open to men and women of all ages, including teenagers, and new members are always welcome. I can’t begin to list the various services our community has benefited from due to the support of the Ruritans.
“The Beast of the East” Rodeo was held the last weekend in August at Great Meadows in Warrenton. This was the first such event held in this area and the turnout was fantastic. The competition included women’s barrel racing, men’s bull riding, calf wrestling, and attempts to stay eight seconds on a bucking horse. For the abuse the cowboys endured, I can’t believe they actually paid to be in the event! The clowns did a great job in distracting the bulls from the thrown cowboys.
