The Rappahannock County Public Schools will conduct a screening of all children with suspected learning problems, including speech, hearing, vision, developmental delays and behavior problems. State Health Department officials “feel their people are a little overworked here in inadequate facilities,” administrative assistant John McCarthy told the supervisors last week, reporting on his recent meeting with Charles Shepherd, regional supervisor of sanitarians. Calling a county-sponsored spray program to control gypsy moths “both premature and unworkable,” Rappahannock’s Gypsy Moth Committee has recommended that efforts for 1988 be confined to creating and funding the position of gypsy moth coordinator.
