Starting Salary Range: $28,236 - $31,131

This full time position, under the general supervision of the County Administrator, is responsible for managing the overall recreational activities sponsored by the County. Preferred applicants will hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education or recreation, will preferably have experience in directing or assisting in the direction of recreational activities for a small to medium sized community; will have knowledge of the philosophy, objectives and operations of a public parks and recreation service; and will have the ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, related agencies and the public to explain policies and obtain information. Secretarial Position-Administration Office

The Board of Supervisors for Rappahannock County, Virginia is seeking qualified applicants for the permanent, full-time position of Secretary to the County Administrator in the Office of Administration. The position will be forty (40) hours weekly, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Salary will be negotiable, based upon experience and qualifications of the selected applicant. Range is $16,750-$20,750 and includes health insurance and retirement benefits. The position will commence on a part-time (1/2 time) basis on or about December 1, 1997, and will p:oceed to full-time by, on, or about January 1, 1998.

This position requires Administrative capabilities, respect for confidentiality, clear and respectful concern for the Public with whom they will be dealing on a daily basis, ability to perform the various clerical duties as required by the Office of Administration and assume responsibility for'day-to-day tasks as directed by the Administrator, gathering and sorting mail and responding to routine requests, making appointments, preparing and keeping a calendar as appropriate by direction of the County Administrator, establishing and maintaining legal, administrative and general files, and possess a typing skill of at least 65 wpm.

Successful applicant should have combined knowledge of standard office procedures with respect to local government, experience of routine office equipment, computer technology, secretarial techniques, thorough knowledge of Business English, and ability to prepare effective correspondence on routine matters as well as maintain a successful working relationship with other employees and the general public in a courteous and tactful manner.

Minimum education to be a high school diploma or equivalent, with preferences given to Associates Degree or higher, or advanced training in computer technology, legal procedures, Business Administration, or closely related field(s).

Successful applicants will be required to authorize a criminal backgrounds and motor vehicle check.
