Commission. Peter Skowronski was reappointed Town Clerk. Reynolds, Kohler, and maintenance specialist John Norman were rehired “to serve at the council’s pleasure.”
Willis reviewed ground rules for conducting meetings. The council unanimously approved his request for personal authorization to spend up to $2,000 for emergency repairs or replacement of equipment. Also readopted was the agenda rule giving postponement power to any council member if a new business item is not on the published agenda.
Wastewater
Wastewater Committee Chairman Charlie Tompkins announced that experts from Resource International would again brief the council in a special public meeting on July 10. “The prevalent thought over the years has been a $5 million treatment facility or nothing,” said Tompkins. “Now we find that less than $2 million will be adequate for us. The needs assessment shows there is cause for concern. This is the biggest issue we face as a community.”
Visioning project
Willis received an update from town planner Milton Herd. Herd’s analysis of trends and existing conditions in the town is expected by the end of July. Being planned are two more action workshops to determine what kinds of land uses, development, and public facility improvements would benefit the town.
