Saturday’s gymkhana (games on horseback) at the Semmes’ Indian Run Farm in Huntly, was a great success. Twenty-six youngsters and seven brave adults vied for prizes, generously donated by Ann Pankow at Horse N’ Hound in Flint Hill, as well as ribbons, bringing in nearly $600 for the Old Rag Mountain Pony Club.
Top honors for the leadline division went to both Pierce Semmes-Hanson on Tinker Toy and Christine Pankow on Poe. These two also tied for overall Champion.
Jenkins Dove on Mocha was the champion of the 11-andunder division, while Alyssa Berry on Star Duster took home the award for the most points in the 18-and-under section as well as the overall Reserve Championship.
As is true with any of these events, a huge debt of gratitude is owed: to the Semmes’ for the use of their facilities; to judges Matt Hatcher, Abigail Gille and Sally Cunningham; to Cindy Williams for the food; to Linda Welk, Sarah Roach and Laurie Carroll for secretarial and food selling duties; to Frank Huff and son Robbie for stellar announcing; as well as to all the helpers and participants.

Walking Race Division I: first, Sarah Smoot; second, Christine Pankow; third, Pierce Semmes-Hanson; fourth, Christopher Payne.
