council not install a second tank in the present location, but suggested a 200,000 gallon tank be put where it would not be visible from the road. Estimated cost to install a second tank next to the current one is $40,000. Costs increase up to $240,000 if the tank is moved and enlarged. The council intends to consult with engineer Roger Cronin, Greeley and Hansen.
Masonic cemetery
Despite Willis’ support, the council made little headway toward deciding whether to take on the Masonic Cemetery as a town cemetery. Admitting “zero financial benefit,” and that “it would be a pain in a lot of ways,” Willis still felt a “sense of pride in the community and wanting to take care of it.” Council member Skowronski said, “Before I vote yes, I want to know about the plot survey, how (the cemetery) will expand, and have agreement from all the adjoining landowners.”
The council also asked Reynolds to hire a title examiner to determine who actually owns the “paupers’ graveyard” property next to the Masonic. Cemetery. At least part of the property may already belong to the town.
Fourth of July
Describing this year’s celebration as “more mellow,” with lower overall turnout, committee chairman Tompkins reported that parking revenues about the same as last year because more people from outside the county attended.

Willis noted that businesses and organizations were interested in linking to the town webpage.. Modeled after the town brochure, the webpage, said Tompkins, “is linked directly to the RAAC Heartbeat Community Calendar and is being adjusted all the time.” The corrected address is http://town.washington.va.us.
