At last, some rain has fallen...my wildflowers have perked up and the peaches are getting more plump by the day!
Dot and Frank Warner of Castleton were on the go for the month of August. The week of the 8th, they visited friends in Warrenton, N.C. Upon their return, they attended, sadly, the funerals of two dear friends in Washington, D.C.
They also visited a cousin in Arlington Hospital. Finally, they traveled to Suitland, Md. to attend the birthday celebration of a friend. On Aug. 15 they entertained family and friends at their home after the Homecoming at Shiloh Baptist Church in Woodville.
On Aug. 17 they participated with the Lions Club in Rappahannock Night at Camp Fantastic (located at the Front Royal 4-H facilities). This activity benefited a wonderful group of kids, all of whom are cancer patients. Next came a round of visits to friends and family in North Carolina and South Carolina.
Following that, they attended the 23rd anniversary of the Pastorate of Rev. John R. Pendleton, of the Flint Hill Baptist Church, at his home in Flint Hill. The following day, they attended a revival “kickoff” at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church in Scrabble. Somehow, these energetic neighbors have also found time to put up several dozen cans of peaches, corn, and cucumber pickles.
