birds come to shore only to nest in burrows under ground. In 1893, Black-capped Petrels were carried northward by a hurricane that dropped them dead, dying and exhausted in Virginia and as far north as Massachusetts and Vermont.

White-tailed Tropicbirds are over two feet long with a wingspan of three feet. These splendid divers for fish sport 16-inch tail feathers. Tropicbirds are spectacular, being all white with distinct black marks on their wings.

Tropicbirds are distinctly oceanic and nest in Bermuda.
