Band Boosters to meet

Saturday, Sept. 11: “From the Blue Ridge to the Bay” Second Saturday Hike Series to trails in the Shenandoah National Park adjacent to headwaters of upper tributaries of the Rappahannock River Watershed. Meet at Mountainside Market on U.S. 211 west of Sperryville, 9879100 between 8-8:30 a.m. Caravan to trail head of Pass Mountain/Oventop Mountain Trail along south fork of Thornton River in Hazel River subwatershed (central upper tributary subwatershed of Rappahannock. Saturday, Sept. 25: Women’s Hike Series Destination: Mary’s Rock, meet at Mountainside Market on U.S. 211 in Sperryville between 8:30-9 a.m. and carpool to the trail head, or meet in the Panorama parking lot on U.S. 211 by 9:30 a.m. Dress according to the weather of the day and bring food/water for self. Plan to return late morning or early afternoon. Call 987-9300 for additional information.
Auction planned at Amissville
The Amissville Volunteer Frie and Rescue Company Inc. will host an auction on Oct. 2 at the fire hall. Please call Paul at 937-4954; JB at 937-4218 or Jack at 937-5282 for pickup of items. All appliances must work and furniture must be in good condition.
Republican Rally planned
An old-fashioned Republican Rally and dinner will be held on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 3 p.m. at Washington Volunteer Fire Department. For people who don’t want dinner, the rally program will begin around 3:45 p.m. All events other than the dinner are free. For information call Walter Longyear at 675-3679.
Karate classes to begin
Shorin-Ryu Okinawan Karate classes will begin on Sept. 22. Classes will be held on Wednesday at Ki Theatre. Annual reunion planned
The annual Old Hollow reunion will be held Sunday, Sept. 12 at Thornton’s Gap Regular Baptist Church. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. “Come and join us and bring a picnic lunch,” said an organizer.
