Sam and Wanda Snead are throwing a bit of a party this Friday, May 5. They are having an open house to celebrate the grand opening of Sam Snead Realty. There will be food and music. The Page County Ramblers will be playing Bluegrass.

Mr. Snead, who has long had a successful business in Front Royal, looks forward to days in his office closer to home: “This is kind of the fulfillment of a dream that we’ve had for a number of years. We wanted to have a satellite office here. We live here in Rappahannock County and I’ve been a broker here since 1978. I got my real estate license in the late ‘60s in Rappahannock, and my brokers license in the late 70’s so I’ve worked and lived in Rappahannock pretty much all my life. We have a lot of customers and friends here in the county and we just thought it would be nice if we had a satellite office where we could serve all of our Rappahannock... friends. It would give... an opportunity for people to come here rather than call or go to Front Royal.”

They purchas u their new office site through friendly competitor Eileen Day: “We found this building was for sale; and I said that would make a great little office site, right out here next to the other commercial activities that are going on.” The office is on 211, right by the blue Mid State Electric building.

The Sneads work as a team, their skills complementing one another. Mr. Snead is the real estate broker, handling purchase and sale of property. Mrs. Snead is an accredited property manager, and works full time managing rental properties: “Most of my management is single family dwellings, with a few apartments and commercial properties.”

Sam Snead’s local roots run deep. He is a native from Gid Brown Hollow, right around the comer from his new office: “My family has always
