The Global Cafe at Ki Theater
The Art Club of RCHS is inviting the public to participate in I an evening of potluck international cuisine, conversation about global issues, live performance and art on May 20 at 6 p.m. in the Ki Theater.
The Global Cafe will feature questions at each table created by Art Club students and young people from Hearthstone. The thought-provoking questions will be conversation starters. Those who attend are requested to sit with people they don’t normally interact with.
There will be original poetry and song and music by students.
I Any young person in the county is invited to share their view of ■ the world in a creative way. Hearthstone students will be displaying their mural entitled “We’ve Got the Whole World.”
If you would like to donate a dish for six from a country other than the United States or if you would like to perform, please leave a message for Laurie Marshall at 987-8575. Admission is $5. Proceeds will go to benefit the Art Department.
Auction at Amissville

King, Queen contestants sought
The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Company is seeking boys and girls to participate in the annual Honorary Fire King and Queen Contest. Contestants will be selling raffle tickets for a purebred Black Angus heifer and a cash prize. Interested parties should contact Charlotte Turnmeyer at 635-8278. This year’s carnival will be held July 26 - 29. The parade is July 28.

Class reunion planned
Since 1961 there have been 427 graduates taught by 24 instructors of the LPN program currently located at CarverPiedmont Tech Center. Erosion, Sediment course offered
Virginia’s Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is offering an Erosion and Sediment Control in Virginia course. This course was developed through the collaborative efforts of DCR’s Division of Soil and Water Conservation and the Virginia Department of Transportation. The one-day course will cover the state minimum standards, related engineering specifications and conservation practices on construction sites. Participants who complete the course and pass the examination at the end of the training will receive a certificate of completion. There is a $50 nonrefundable registration fee, which includes a manual. There are six locations and dates to choose from Richmond, May 9; Fredericksburg, May 16; Charlottesville, May 25; Lynchburg, June 1; Williamsburg, June 15 and Manassas, July 12.
