Jennifer Glenn’s involvement in the children’s storytime has had excellent results, according to Mr. Shaffer. Attendance has nearly doubled, and a group of mothers has decided to express their gratitude by donating funds for children’s books.
Treasurer’s report
Treasurer Mary Brown submitted her Treasurer’s report with the assistance of past Treasurer Helen Platt. The report showed income of nearly $87,000 through the end of March and expenditures of $80,803 through the end of March, 2000. The Library Fund summary indicated a balance of nearly $339,000 at the end of the same period.
Other activities
• President John Hartline reported that the library budget would probably be taken up by the Board of Supervisors in mid-May, and that no difficulty was expected in budget approval.
• President Hartline also noted, that because of safety concerns, he and David Shaffer would be cleaning up and organizing the library’s basement air handling room. The board also discussed the storage of books donated for the Fourth of July sale, and Mr. Hartline suggested some thought be given to storage options. .
• The Buildings and Grounds Committee presented a list of maintenance items, and priorities for facility maintenance were established.
