Library Board of Trustees member Hallee Morgan told the board at last week’s meeting that she was compiling a list of local authors as the start of a process of creating a “locals” sec~ tion in the library.
After compiling the list she said that she would “go begging” to get copies of each of their published works. In addition Ms. Morgan would like to see local illustrators and musicians participate in this process of developing the hometown section by providing copies of their published efforts. Library Director David Shaffer was supportive of Ms. Morgan’s suggestion and efforts, noting that he too has been planning for , the ‘made in Rappahannock’ section.
Any author, illustrator or musician who would like to see his or her works in this section should contact library staff.
Director’s report
David Shaffer reported to the board that he received a letter from a former Washington res- ident (now living in Fairfax) who said that the .. Rappahannock County Library “is an oasis to me.” He further complemented library staff, Director Shaffer said, and noted that the audio tape collection was extremely beneficial to him.
Mr. Shaffer also reported that after nine years of service Ellen Pullen’s last day at the library would be April 28, and that Shelly Jenkins had been hired as a replacement.
