As you drive down 211, from Sperryville towards Warrenton, shortly before you get to Washington, you see on the left a rustic old dark brown log and stone building. On the front wall, written in fading whitewash is the single, faded word "ANTIQUES" written in whitewash right on ;the front of the building. ” Originally an old toll house, the building is one of the many little treasures .around here that give 'Rappahannock its rustic, rural ►charm. * 1 How befitting that it now ;houses the county office of the Piedmont Environmental Council; an organization dedicated to helping preserve that - self same rural character. Z~ Z The Piedmont Environmental Council (PEC), a non -profit organization founded in T1972, serves the nine 'Piedmont counties running from Loudoun to Albemarle. ; Comprised mostly of volunteers, and funded by your -iiembership and donations, I they work to help preserve * open spaces, forest and agri- Cultural land, along with the rural economy these support.
