Annual Relay for Life is coming up,
donations and help still welcome.
The American Cancer Society’s annual Relay for
Life is coming up soon. It will be held May 19
and 20 at Rappahannock County Elementary School with ceremonies beginning at 7 p.m. If you have not signed up and would like to participate in some way there are many teams walking. It shouldn’t be; difficult to find a team with someone you know participating. . . If you cannot attend, consider the cause and the many survivors of cancer that live here in Rappahannock and those that were not as fortunate and make a donation to a member of one of the teams. *- Research is the key to beating cancer and even though the many early detection programs now being used have improved cancer victims chances immensely there is still much that needs to be done. But, research takes money. • ! Last year, Rappahannock branched out from the Fauquier and Culpeper groups for the first time. And the end results were amazing. Last year’s event raised $61,000. Forty-seven teams of up to ten persons each participated and 27 of those teams raised more than $1,000 each.
American Cancer Society officials announced in Nearly December that Rappahannock County’s 1999 -Relay for Life was the most successful in the MidAtlantic region. The event also achieved seventh place . in the entire United States. ; Several events, bake sales, yard sales, etc. are ; planned for this weekend throughout the county to ! raise money for this worthy cause - make sure to sup: port these endeavors and plan to attend the Relay on Friday and Saturday, May 19 and 20.
