We look forward to a cease fire in the apparent campaign

being waged against our county’s newest School Board representatives.

We have the utmost respect for all of the members of our School Board, both past and present. These individuals, in reality volunteers, put forth an extraordinary amount of effort doing the good and difficult work they were elected to do. Although any attack of personal character is inappropriate, such action is particularly counter-productive when levied upon a faithful public servant.

The election is finished and the votes have been counted. Let us begin a period of civility and put an end to divisive behavior. Let us recognize the service and efforts of our representatives and treat them with dignity. Let us learn from the past and look to the future. Finally, let us work together so that our children may receive the world class education they deserve.

It is amazing to me when I find my neighbors caught up with the negative view of a situation that really doesn’t help in any way. In our busy times, we cannot afford to dwell on the negative. Professionalism does not include personal attack; it stays focused on the issue not the individual.

The school board election is over. So lets turn our combined energies to solving the common problems we face as a community. Hundreds decided the election; hundreds never attend a school board meeting; so what? Working together we can take action to make the future bright for our counties youth! A quick review of each school board member’s statement of purpose, published in this newspaper, clearly solicits input and encourages dialogue on the issues facing public education in our community. Call them, they will listen and I am confident that they will incorporate your input to the decision making process.
