Paul Bollenback is one of the bright stars among today’s young jazz guitarists, and is known for his versatility as an arranger and composer, as well as performer. He has played with the Pisanos on other occasions including the Smithsonian’s Blue Guitar Concert series, and John Pisano’s Los Angeles Guitar Festival.
The name “The Flying Pisanos” was suggested to John and Jeanne Pisano by Herb Alpert of the Tijuana Brass. A review of their CD in the Los Angeles Times noted “their way with classic standards and Brazilian tunes has both an incredible smoothness and a wonderful lilt. The teaming of Jeanne’s luxurious alto and « John’s resourceful, empathic guitar playing makes listening to them a pleasure.” Jeanne Pisano’s voice has a remarkable four-octave range. Her mother was a musician who had her own dance band and Jeanne started singing and touring with the band at age 10.
Tommy Cecil, the renowned bassist, comes from Washington, D.C., and performs extensively throughout the United States and abroad.
