May 5 at the Rappahannock Park in Washington. This month we will be celebrating DUD-ism! We will be inviting everyone who attends to be proud to be a DUD (Dedicated, Understanding, Determined 'parent or teacher). If we are to help our children resist drugs and violence, we must be willing to occasionally be a DUD and set limits for our children which might not always make us popular. Remember, it’s ok to be a DUD!
Please bring your children and enjoy the fun evening. The staff from RCES, RCHS and the School Board Office are all invited to attend. Dinner will begin at 6. We will be cooking hot dogs and hamburgers, but we ask that each family bring a covered dish to share. (If you are able to help with preparations, please call Jan Makela at 987-8259.) The meeting will begin at 7 and should last no longer than one hour.
• PTO President Jimmy Swindler is also happy to announce that the Used Book exchange is going very well! If you have gently used children’s books at your home that you are willing to donate so that other children might enjoy them, please send them in to the RCES office with your child or drop them in the collection box in the main lobby of the school. A table will be set up on DARE Day where children or parents may buy the books for 5,10 or 25 cents. All proceeds will go into the PTO General Fund. At the end of the day teachers may go through the remaining books and make selections for their classrooms. Many thanks to Mrs. Debbie Flournoy and Mrs. Debbie Massie for this great idea. •
