I realize how fortunate I have been to have so many positive male role models in my life, men who have certain expectations of me, men who have, by their presence and support, encouraged me to do something worthwhile and honorable with my life. Both my grandfathers are here today. Both are World War II veterans, Grandpa Heddleston of the Navy and Grandpa Simpson of the Army and Air Force. Both have been married to the same gal for more than 50 years! (And 111 credit my grandmothers for that!) They have taught me to be serious, and to have fun, to enjoy life while doing what is right and proper.”
“And, truly, I would be remiss if I did not mention the many women who worked so hard. (It’s only because this is Boy Scouts that I began with the men!) First, thanks, mom, for the stuff you said: ‘Someday, you’ll thank me for this!”

Heddleston also received the Paul Nichols Memorial Award at the RCHS graduation on Saturday, June 10. He will attend James Madison University in the fall and is the son of Jon and April Heddleston of Sperryville.
