PEC may present its proposal. FY 2000-2001 Budget
The Council considered the FY 2000-2001 budget, following last month’s public hearing. The proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2000-2001 shows income and expenditures of $274,050.00, as compared with current year figures of $244,800.
Mr. Tompkins initiated a discussion on the treasurer’s salary. He said that “we all work on a volunteer basis,” and suggested that the treasurer position was salaried in the past in order to obtain the skills necessary to automate the Town’s accounting functions but, since that task has been completed, a salaried position is no longer necessary. Council member Alice Butler remarked that the Council had voted to reinstate the treasurer’s salary, “and we should leave it like- it is—at least until the end of the term.”
