Hitt family dinner set
. Descendants of 1714 German Immigrant Peter Hitt will gather July 14 at the Gourdvine Baptist Church at 5 p.m. for a dinner and talk by Donnie Johnson on the history of the church. Dennis at PEC office on Fridays
Bob Dennis will be at the Rappahannock Piedmont Environmental Office every Friday from 9:30 to 12. The public is invited to learn more about Conservation Easements, ask questions, learn the facts and/or draft your easement. The office is located at 12717 Lee Highway near Washington. Family reunion planned
The Weaver, Butler and Thornhill families will host their annual reunion on Sunday, June 25 beginning at 1 p.m. at the Rappahannock Park on US 211 near Washington.
Amissville carnival set
The Amissville firemen’s carnival will be held Wednesday, June 28 through Saturday, July 1. Wednesday night is family night; Thursday night will be the parade at 7 p.m.; Friday will be crowning t»f the queen and the grand prizes will be awarded on Saturday night. Wednesday rides will be $8 and the remainder of the week will be $10. Rides are once again sponsored by West Virginia Amusements Company and the entire community is > encouraged to support this endeavor.
Farm fair dance slated
There will be a Culpeper-Madison-Rappahannock Farm Fair Dance on Saturday, June 24 at the St. Luke'S School Gym in Culpeper from 7 to 11 p.m. Any FFA/4-H member can attend and bring two guests. Ages for youth to attend are 9 to 19 years old. Refreshments will be served.
There will be a special laser light show by “Thunder Music” Steve Miller, DJ and cash prizes. Page derby set, applications accepted
Applications are being accepted for the demolition derby to be held Friday, Aug. 25 during the Page Valley Fair. Drivers must be 21 years of age. Cars may include any American made stock, hardtop automobile or station wagon. No oversize vehicles or trucks are allowed. Official entry blanks are available at your local auto parts store or by calling 743-4949. Registration is limited to the first 60 applications and yours will be acknowledged by return mail.
Hospice offers support group
Hospice of the Rapidan presents a free Education and Support Group for anyone who has lost a loved one through death, divorce, or relocation, to learn coping techniques for managing the resulting emotional stress. Open to everyone, not just Hospice families. Beginning Tuesday, June 20 from 5:30 to 7 p.m., the group will meet weekly at the hospice office in Mulberry Commons, 1200 Sunset Lane, Suite 2320 in Culpeper.
