Tried in a court of human justice, it would be fair to say the wren got his just desserts. On arriving in late April from winter quarters in the south, he threw out a nestful of chickadee eggs from the bluebird box near the garage where his mate laid her eggs. Tried by wrens — a jury of his peers — there would be no retribution for just being a house wren.
