ing western North Carolina audiences wanting to hear more. Her musical influences, ranging from classical music to bluegrass, add a refreshing twist to her original folk music.
Hilger’s youth was spent growing up on a family farm, but spent her college years studying voice and dance at the Florida School of the Arts and UNC-Greensboro. Though she changed paths and finished with a masters degree in Health Education it was inevitable that Hilger would return to the stage. In 1993 Hilger moved to Austin, Texas to hone her skills then settled in the western North Carolina mountains where she quickly developed a steady following.
Currently, she spends her time touring the eastern United States with growing popularity. She has appeared with: Sara Hickman, Eddie from Ohio, Tbm Prasado Rao, The Freight Hoppers, among others.
After just two short yaars as a solo artist, Hilger has been receiving the type of press typically reserved for veteran artists. Her debut CD “Casting Shadows” (ISG Records, 1999) produced with Chriss Rosser, rose to number 16 on the Folk DJ chart.
