In the winter, 2000, 17 food service managers and employees completed a food sanitation course in Madison. For those who missed the course, another one is being offered in Warrenton, with the opportunity to become certified with the National Restaurant Association. The course and ServSafe Essentials textbook utilize the new 1999 Model Food Code from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Virginia Cooperative Extension and the Virginia Department of Health are offering the 16 hour ServSafe course and Food Protection Manager Certification exam. The course will be held at the Fauquier Extension Office, 24 Pelham Street, Warrenton on July 10 and 17, with the certification exam on July 17. Classes will be held from 8 a.m. to 5.
The cost is $92 per person, unless there is a pre-formed group of 15 or more and the fee is $76. The textbook and exam is included in the fee. To register, contact the Rappahannock Extension Office, 675-3619, before the registration deadline of July 3.
