Mr. Nickols carried the American Flag for parades in Rappahannock County and surrounding counties.
Survivors include three sisters, Marty Dugger and Patricia Jenkins, both of Culpeper and Anna Nickols of Rappahannock County.
Additional survivors include a niece, Tracy Bruce; three nephews, Arthur Wagner, Tommy Bruce and Jessie Jenkins; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by a brother, Robert Lee Nickols.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday, March 9 at Nethers Mill Lighthouse Tabernacle with the Rev. Charles Clinedinst and Pastor Charles Shifflett officiating.
Interment followed at the Nickols family cemetery.

Samuel Caldow
Washington resident
Samuel C. Caldow, 73, of Washington, Va. and also of Vienna died March 6 at INOVA Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax.
He was bom Jan. 10,1928 in Iowa. Mr. Caldow retired from real estate, most recently he served at Tbwn and Country Real Estate.
He was the son of the late Samuel C. Caldow Sr. and Margaret Colburn Caldow.
Survivors include his children, Laurie Heff of Virginia Beach, Christy Bull of Herndon, Samuel C. Caldow II of Virginia Beach, Samantha Caldow and Luke Caldow, both of Oakton; a sister, Nancy Keough and her husband George of Corolla, N.C.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were conducted on Friday, March 9 at Culpeper National Cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Post 2524 and American Legion Post 330 Honor Guard. Father Loe Zonneveld officiated.
Clore-English Funeral Home in Culpeper was in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothy “Tuttie” Jeffryes, 48, of Columbus, Neb. died Monday, March 5 at University Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.
She was bom Aug. 7,1951 in Front Royal, a daughter of the late Hugh Robert “Sugar” Deal and Mabel Deal.
Survivors include her husband, Danny R. Jeffryes of Columbus, Neb.; a son, Mike Jeffryes and his wife Trina of Columbus, Neb.; two daughters, Cassandra Jeffryes and Amanda Jeffryes, both of Columbus; four brothers, Hugh Robert “Dickie” Deal and his wife Becky of Manassas, James D.
