Tennessee, which might be expected to know him best, chose Mr. Bush. Even Vice President Mondale, rejected if I recall correctly, by 49 other states, did carry his home state.
If it were not for this, and the general consensus that a sitting Vice President in times of prosperity should have no trouble winning an election, we would be more sympathetic to the claim that President Bush didn’t win the popular vote. However, with the various reports of voting irregularities in several other states, we question the “popular vote” non-issue, but suggest that President Bush won ! the moral equivalent of a landslide.
