Local couple arrested

Captain Steven W. Shiro of the Front« Royal Police Department announced at a press conference on March 9 that the Northwest Virginia Regional Drug Task Force had raided the home of Kenneth and Melissa Kratz and seized more than $500,000 worth of marijuana and heroin.

The Kratz home at 23 Red Haven Lane, Chester Gap in Rappahannock County was the site of an underground marijuana growing and processing operation, and 95 . plants were seized along with quantities of processed marijuana and packets of heroin.

Kenneth Kratz was charged with man- < ufacturing marijuana with intent to dis- , tribute and is being held at the Warren County jail in Front Royal, with bond set at $200,000. His wife, Melissa Kratz, was charged with possession of heroin in both t Rappahannock and Warren Counties.

The Task Force’s thirteen member entry team was manned by officers of the Virginia State Police, the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office.
