Although I agree with my critics that the
system needs changing, my idea of what part needs it soonest is probably not theirs.
The first monkey wrench that got flung into the electoral process came flying by courtesy of the television “experts” who gave Florida to A1 Gore before all the polls were closed. The system that allowed that kind of interference should be changed and the sooner the better.
That “all three” major networks agreed on that call doesn’t mean a thing. They were all three feeding from the same source. Whoopie doo!
The butterfly ballot has been used in other states than Florida, and has never, until this election, been considered a problem. But if it was, and especially if it was, there is no excuse for a serious voter to have handed it to a child for voting. Discuss, yes. Explain, yes. Hand it over? No.
