• Have you ever thought about hosting a Foreign Exchange Student? Have you ever considered opening your home and your hearts to a student from another country? Every year, thanks to the efforts locally of Mrs. Jeanie McNear and the Youth for Understanding program, Rappahannock plays host to students from around the globe.
There is always a need for families to welcome these wonderful students into their homes. Is it easy? Not necessarily. You provide for them as you would your own child. You may offer transportation to athletic events. You may assist with homework. You must be willing to listen and offer support. Do you grow attached to these children? Yes, without a doubt. They become a part of you family. There will be connection long after they return to their own countries.
What a wonderful program to be a part of! Students will be arriving this summer and homes will be needed, so this is the time to open your hearts and help to foster a spirit of global understanding.
