Future Fourths headless
In his report oil tXe WUUam M. Carrigan InflEpeijlenc^’Day Celebration, Mr. TbmpScins informed the Council that “the ^ team is step* ping down.” He and 30-chair Ellen Manson, as well as Beverly Atkins, Butch Zindel, and Frank Reynolds, “who have done it for about ten years now and that’s enough”, will not Serve on RAAC’s Fourth of July committee in the future.
Mr. Tompkins stressed that this was not a RAAC decision, but were individual decisions. He also raised a few points about future Fourth events—he said that he understood why this year’s event was named in honor of William Carrigan, but sug® gested that, since it is a County cele*' bration, a County stamp be used instead; he raised the prospect of future problems in the use of private property for Fourth parking; and he voiced some concern about the »gin| and thus availability of volunteer^ for parking and other event duties.Mr. Tbmpkins did thank all of the William M. Carrigan Independence Day Celebration sponsors, and expressed his hopes that the “A, Team” departure would spark some discussion in the County about future Independence Day celebrations. "s
