Jeanne and Dick McNear have been hosting students on and off for at least twelve years. They now have close family friends all over the world; other families and lives now connected inextricably to their own. Not too long ago, they traveled abroad to attend the wedding of one of their former students.

Their experience? “We have just thoroughly enjoyed it . It’s very addictive after awhile. The first time we liked it so much, we didn’t do it again for a while because I think we thought we’d never have another one that good, we enjoyed it so much. Then we kind of got over that and started having them again, and its been very rewarding, we’ve had great kids.”

This last year the McNear’s hosted a young man named Miguel Gaviria, from Medellin, Columbia. Miguel, a friendly, polite, well-spoken lad, comes from a family in Medellin that owns a cattle farm. His father is an architect and his mother a psychologist.
