The Sphinx Moth is one of several types of moth of the family sphingidae that are often mistaken for hummingbirds.
I call them the pixies. Their nature certainly reminds us of a pixie-like creature. These little amusing creatures appear each summer when everything in the garden is in bloom. It hovers with its wings beating over the flower and sucks the nectar, unlike bees and butterflies that actually land on the flowers.
