drawn with a deft, madcap style that captured his wry humor, made him a favorite of readers across the country. His sculptures and less well known paintings captured the breadth and genius of his artistic talents.
Jeff’s community spirit was invaluable to many local organizations for whom he produced mascots and emblems and which he supported with his time, energy, and generosity. We in Rappahannock are blessed to have had Jeff MacNelly as a friend and neighbor and to have seen him dining at 4&20 Blackbirds (where the walls display MacNelly cartoons) or sharing his talents with students in the schools and at the Middle Street Gallery.
