Mr. Dingle graduated from Duke University in 1968 and was part of the first class at the school to be integrated. He was also one of the first to live with a black roommate and was active in the civil rights movement.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Dingle; a brother, Jim Dingle of Austin, Texas; a sister, Kathy Mayer of Montana; and a stepson, Justin Rhodes.

Funeral services and a celebration of his life w’ere held Saturday, July 14 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington.
