Dale P. Rhodes Sr. of Culpeper recently released his first book of poetry, Daddy's Apple Tree, and it may be purchased locally at the Old Sperryville Bookshop.
Rhodes was born in Culpeper and was the youngest of eight children. He was raised in Lignum, a son of the Frances White Rhodes of Schuyler and John Rhodes of Charlottesville. He was educated through the Culpeper Public School System.
Rhodes began writing as a junior in high school. After high school, working and starting a family took center stage in his life and he only wrote occasionally for the next ten years. The death of his father stirred emotions inside of him that soon found their way onto paper and thus he published his first book.
Rhodes lived in the Rappahannock area during the JBp's. * „ C He is a single father of two teenage boys. Dale Jr. and Andy.

join rehearsals
The Front Royal Oratorio Society, George Amos, Music Director, will begin rehearsals for its spring season on Monday, Jan. 7 at 7:15 p.m. and Rappahannock residents are encouraged to attend. Prospective new members are welcome. No audition is required. Come and join singers from a six-county area.
Rehearsals are Monday evenings and will be held at the Fulton Fine Arts Complex at Randolph-Macon Academy.
