County Administrator John McCarthy provided attendees to the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection’s (RLEP) July meeting with the latest on the sewage sludge issue. Mr. McCarthy recently presented the Rappahannock County perspective on the local regulation of biosolids to the Virginia State Legislative Commission on the Future of Virginia’s Environment (The Bolling Commission), and he shared that perspective with RLEP members and guests.
As background, Mr. McCarthy noted that the land application of sewage sludge has bedeviled Virginia jurisdictions for JO years.
