Hike scheduled
The following activity is scheduled through Ragged Mountain Resource Center. For more information call Director Hunt Harris at 987-3366.
“Second Saturday” hike to trails in the Shenandoah National Park along jpper Rappahannock River tributaries will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10 to White Oak CanyonRobinson River. Those attending should meet between 8 and 8:30 a.m. at Mountainside Market on US 211 west of Sperryville and caravan from there to trailheads. Bring nourishment for self, especially water, and layered clothing according to the weather of the day (extra socks recommended). Return is usually mid-afternoon.
Anyone interested in helping co-ordinate other programs, especially biking, climbing and canoe/kayak trips, either this summer or into the fall and winter, is welcome to contact Ragged Mountain Resource Center Director Hunt Harris at 987-3366.
Bluemont series continues
The Bluemont 2002 summer series will continue on Saturday, July 20 with Pan Master Caribbean at the old Warren Green in downtown historic Warrenton. Requested admission is $5 per person, $3 for Bluemont friends and seniors and $1 for children under six. In case of bad weather the event will be held at Taylor Middle School. Class planned at CRH
Infant CPR classes will be held at Culpeper Regional Hospital on July 24 from 7 to 9 p.m. This is not a certification course for professionals, but is important for those who care for babies. For information call Culpeper Regional Hospital Outreach at 829-4190 to register.
Civil War Days planned
Plans are underway for the fourth annual Sperryville Civil War Days, which will be held this year on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 21-22. Weekend events will include encampments by unifortned Civil War re-enactors. Musicians will perform the music of the Civil War era. Authors of Civil War books will discuss and sign their books at the Old Sperryville Bookshop. A street fair along Main Street will feature vendors of Civil War-related items including art prints, relics and replicas, T-shirts and the like.
