One of Sam and Wanda Snead’s most gentle llamas was struck twice by a rattlesnake on Tuesday, July 9. He died on Saturday.
For a few days the story was heading for a happy ending.
Early in the morning on Tuesday, Sam Snead went out to the pasture where the llamas had spent the night and discovered “Noah” standing still holding his leg off the ground. When Mr. Snead got closer he could see Noah’s leg was swollen from above his knee to his stomach. He was afraid Noah’s leg was broken. A call was put through to Dr. Donna Matthews of Luray who came immediately.
