RLEPgoes to “Nature Camp”,

Residents are invited to come and join RLEP members as they tour Lyt Wood’s Nature Camp at Singing Creek, right here in Rappahannock on Sunday, July 21. Mr. Wood will tour the group about, highlighting the just completed Rappahannock Nature Camp program. He will explain and show the goings on of his camp, especially the observation of living plants and animals. His theme this year is “Habitat” and he will show the group forest, meadow, creek, and pond and how these habitats interact with the critters and vice versa. Soccer League registration set

The Rappahannock Youth Soccer League fall registration is now in progress. Players from U-6 through U-18 may participate. U-6 players must be 5 years old by Sept. 8. Applications may be picked up at the kiosk in Washington and the Public Library now through Aug. 3. Fees are $35 for the first player and $20 for each additional family member. Some scholarships are available.

Brandy Station announces carnival

Brandy Station Volunteer firemen will sponsor their annual carnival July 31 through Aug. 3 at Fleetwood Heights Road in Brandy Station. The carnival opens each evening at 7. The parade will be held Aug. 1 beginning at 6:30 p.m. A matinee will be held on Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. with a special ride price.

Activities at Dreamtime

Dreamtime Center for Herbal Studies is offering the following upcoming activities:

July 27, Making Herbal Beer. Spend a delightful day learning all the how to’s of herbal beer brewing with Tara Welty from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sampling included. Fee is $60, brown bag lunch.

Aug. 3, “Wonders of the Wetland” Dreamtime Garden Tour from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. See the spectacular show of natives planted around two ponds including brilliant lobelias, sultry swamp milkweeds, vivid vervains and more. Fee is $40, brown bag lunch.

A in-orchard meeting will be held at Nauman’s Orchard in Flint Hill on Wednesday, July 24. For additional information call the Rappahannock Extension Office at 675-3619.

Clinic will be open July 17

The Rappahannock Free Clinic, a local operation of the Fauquier Free Clinic Inc., is currently open on the first, third and fifth Wednesdays of each month. The clinic will be open Wednesday, July 17 and not again until July 31. Patient registration is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Rappahannock Public Health Department Building.
