A group of public spirited citizens of Amissville, Castleton and Viewtown and the surrounding area are trying hard to create enough interest to form a Ruritan Club. Two preliminary meetings have been held and another meeting is scheduled for Thesday, July 25 at the Amissville fire hall.
Madam C. Lehmon, Swiss Chef was offering delicious French and Italian food and homemade American Food at the Swiss Chalet Motor Lodge and Restaui&nt in Sperryville for very reasonable prices. *
Mrs. Larry Welch was hostess to the Flint Hill Home Demonstration Club on her lawn Tuesday night. Mr. Welch and Mrs. Carson Lillard gave a most informative and delightful demonstration on outdoor cookeiy.
They used a portable charcoal grill to barbecue chicken, hamburgers and onions and cooked ‘ chicken and rice with onion soup in aluminum * foil.
PFC Carl D. Smoot, son of Mrs. Annie Smoot of Washington recently participated with other personnel from the First Division’s 7th Cavalry in an Army training test in Korea.
The 20-year old soldier, a communications specialist in the cavalry’s Company A, entered the Army in May 1960 and completed basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C.
