Steeplechase horsemen have resorted to jogging on gravel roads and shipping to the training track for pre-season workouts. Being fit for the Virginia opener Casanova Hunt point-to-point races and the Rappahannock Hunt races that normally run the following Saturday is a goal for most.

Their efforts may have been in vain.

For the first time in Virginia racing history, the season has been pushed back to its fourth week.
