Dealing With Anger
As grieving individuals emerge from the denial stage in the grieving process, they are likely to express anger. This can be the most difficult stage for friends and family to understand. As the realization dawns that death is probable, those in the anger stage of denial may show anger toward survivors, question religious beliefs, and accuse family and friends of displaying uncaring attitudes. At this point, it is important to remember that anger is directed at the situation, not any one individual. Caring individuals should also ask themselves how they would respond if confronted with the same circumstances. They should bear in mind that the anger response is part of a process that will eventually bring peace and acceptance.
