Megan punched it in before the goalie could get hold of it. Lily ran down a cross and buried a shot in the net. Brittany Clatterbuck had a quiet first half in goal but came out at forward in the second half. She was powerful up front the whole second half and took a ball from midfield, past two defenders, and sank a pretty shot one vs. one against the Culpeper goalie.
Sarah Hazel and Stevie Ross were impressive all day. Sarah crossed the ball to Lily on the first half goal after working the ball up from midfield. She made some great tackles on defense and worked the ball up the sideline to our forwards.
Stevie also made some awesome tackles, chasing down loose balls, and working them back up the sideline. Lots of aggressive, hard play from both of them.
The Blue Storm finishes the season with a Friday evening game at home against Madison and a Saturday game at home against Orange.
The U-12 boys, sponsored by Blue Water Builders faced a highly competitive Madison team on the RCES home field. With many Rapp teams shifting their games’ locations due to wet field conditions, it was refreshing to finally play on home turf.
Rapp scored early and built a 6-1 first half lead with Bennet Eastham taking advantage of his teams passing and his own hustle.
The second half saw Madison come back strong scoring quickly. Jacob Racer put in a strong effort in the goalie (much to his mother’s (assistant coach Racer) surprise and made several dramatic saves.
Rapp kept the pressure on and scored several more goals to secure a 105 victory.
