Mr. Bennett was a member of the Marlow Heights Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine A. Bennett and two daughters, Sharon D. Bennett of Strasburg and Jan Bennett Main of Front Royal.
Additional survivors include two sisters, Annie Hawkins of Washington and Rena Burke of Luray, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held May 29 at Maddox Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Bunce officiating. Entombment will follow at Shenandoah Memorial Park with military honors by the VFW Post 2123 Honor Guard.
