Drevas said she has learned that one of the problems with working with natural materials is that they can be very ephemeral; she said she likes the fact that what she creates can decompose.
Because of the decomposition she has to ask herself: “How much time do I want to invest if it’s going to go away in three hours for instance or a couple days?”
Drevas said her work usually takes 10 times as long to do as she thought it would.
“(There is) a lot of fiddling involved. It takes time to go out and collect the things, and then sometimes you have to dry them; sometimes you store them in a certain way and that takes time. I guess I’ve done things in as little as three days but
